One injury in afternoon wreck

Driver of station wagon taken to hospital

State Journal Staff Report Published:

A Frankfort man was injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle wreck at U.S. 127 and Louisville Road.

Maj. Fred Deaton of Frankfort Police said 71-year-old Earl Minick, of Frankfort, was westbound on Louisville Road when his 2002 Chevy Trailblazer collided with 49-year-old Stephen Mitchell’s 2002 Ford Escort at the U.S. 127 intersection.

“Witnesses at the scene indicated to officers that the westbound Trailblazer disregarded the traffic control device,” Deaton said.

Mitchell was transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

This was the second wreck in as many weeks at the intersection of Louisville Road and U.S. 127. A woman was taken to the hospital June 25 after her car collided with a pickup truck.

  • I say retest ever licensed driver in the state both written and drivers test ensuring that each driver knows the rules of the road including using their turn signals as required by law and keeping a safe distance from drivers in front of them etc etc. So many drivers have not a clue how to drive safely and obey the rules that it has become a game of Russian Roulette every time we venture out onto our roads.
