A motorist was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries Wednesday after a car wreck on the East-West Connector.
Amy Winans, 19, of Frankfort was driving her 2003 Mitsubishi Montero southbound on Limestone Street around 1:30 p.m.
As she crossed the East-West Connector, a 2003 Toyota Avalon struck her vehicle, flipping it on its side.
City emergency crews cut through her car’s windshield and roof to free her as bystanders watched from nearby parking lots. She was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center by ambulance for her injuries.
Frankfort Police Maj. Fred Deaton said investigators learned that the driver of the Toyota, 54-year-old Ule Washburn of Frankfort, might have disregarded the traffic signal as he was suffering a medical problem.
A third vehicle was also involved. Michael Moore, 45, of Frankfort, was in his 1999 Chevy Tahoe waiting for the intersection to clear when the accident occurred. His vehicle made contact with the Mitsubishi on the left front bumper, Deaton said.
