Wilkinson wreck sends 1 to hospital

Driver says brake failure caused him to rear end vehicle

State Journal staff report Published:

A 58-year-old woman was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center around 3:30 p.m. Friday with seemingly minor injuries after her vehicle was rear-ended at the intersection of Wilkinson Boulevard and Riley Road.

Arthur Hornbeck, 36, of Frankfort, said brake failure caused his Honda Accord to slam into the back of the Toyota Corolla driven by Barbara Keith, of Frankfort.

The front of Hornbeck’s vehicle and the back of Keith's car were crunched. Hornbeck’s vehicle had both airbags deployed, but he was able to drive it into a parking lot off the roadway. Keith, who was loaded onto a stretcher after the accident, was wearing a seatbelt when she was hit.

Captain Rob Richardson of the Frankfort Police Department said Keith's injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.
