Alleged book bag robber found through Facebook

The man who allegedly hit a juvenile male five to six times on the head with a skateboard and stole his book bag Sept. 29 on Meagher Avenue was caught by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

Frankfort Police had a warrant issued for Joshua Stigers, 18, of Frankfort, for the robbery, according to a press release.

Police discovered through Facebook that Stigers was in Madison County and contacted Sgt. Andrea Patterson, who helped take Stigers into custody, according to the release.

Police responded to the robbery complaint Sept. 29 at about 10:40 p.m. on Meagher Avenue when they found the victim with a laceration on the left side of his head.

A witness said the victim was crossing a field adjacent to the Meagher and Wallace Avenue intersection when he was attacked. The attacker then ran away, and the witness lost sight of him. The victim’s book bag contained an unspecified amount of cash.

Stigers is lodged in Madison County Jail and is also being charged with possession of marijuana and receiving stolen property. He will return to Frankfort for the robbery charge, according to the release.
