Flu shot in exchange for food donations today

Published:

The annual Three for Free Drive-Through Flu Clinic will be held today at Commonwealth Credit Union, 101 Sower Blvd., from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Franklin County adult residents are asked to drive in, drop off three nonperishable food items for the local food pantry and then proceed to designated lanes for a free seasonal flu vaccination.

The event has received national public health recognition. It is a community preparedness exercise with the Franklin County Health Department and partners. The event also expands flu vaccination coverage. The flu can be deadly, with estimates as high as 49,000 deaths annually.

The health department is providing flu vaccines for children in daycares and the schools. For more details, visit www.fchd.org.
