Christmas eve services


Editor’s Note: On this Christmas Eve, perhaps your plans include attending a special service in one of our community’s churches. While by no means exhaustive, here is a selection of services:

>Immanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Collins Lane, will hold a candlelight communion

service at 6 p.m.

>First Christian Church, 316 Ann St., will hold a family service at 7 p.m. with the praise band and an 11 p.m. candlelight service with music by the Chancel Choir and Disciple Ringers.

>Graefenburg Baptist Church, U.S. 60 just west of the Franklin/Shelby county line, will hold candlelight

communion at 5 and 11 p.m.

>Highland Christian Church, 265 Versailles Road, will hold candlelight communion and “A Festival of Lessons and Carols” at 5 p.m. The church will be open from 6-9 p.m. for anyone to stop in and take communion.

>South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Third and Steele streets, will hold candlelight communion at 6 p.m.

>St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Road, will hold a service at 7 p.m.

>Memorial Baptist Church, 130 Holmes St., will hold a communion service at 5:30 p.m.

>Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Road, will hold a scripture, song and sacrament service at 9 p.m.

>Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen Road at Cardwell Lane, will hold candlelight communion at 9 p.m.

>East Frankfort Baptist Church, 457 Versailles Road, will hold a candlelight service at 10 p.m.

>First United Methodist Church, 211 Washington St., offers a ”Spontaneous Christmas Pageant” and communion at Asbury Hall at 4 p.m. and candlelight communion with carols in the sanctuary at 7 and 11 p.m.

>First Presbyterian Church, 416 W. Main St., will hold the lighting of Christ Candle and candlelight communion at 11 p.m.

>Church of the Ascension,  311 Washington St., will hold a vigil of music and carols at 10 p.m. and The Feast of the Nativity of our Lord at 10:30 p.m.
