Storms coming to Kentucky, wind is greatest threat

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected in Kentucky ahead of a cold front pushing into the commonwealth.

The National Weather Service office in Paducah says the storms will develop Tuesday evening in the western part of Kentucky, bringing strong winds, the possibility of isolated tornadoes and locally heavy rain.

The storms will push into the central part of Kentucky by late Tuesday night.

The storms will be mostly a daytime threat in eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. The winds should subside Wednesday evening in the east.

While rain could be heavy, forecasters say the storms will be moving rapidly, diminishing the possibility of flooding.
