U.S. 127 South reopened after fuel spill

State Journal staff report, Published:

Part of southbound U.S. 127 South, at the Evergreen Road intersection, was closed Tuesday afternoon while Franklin County Fire crews cleaned up a diesel fuel spill.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton said a tractor-trailer's load shifted, causing a 3,500-pound piece of concrete to fall off the truck and create the leak.

Fire officials estimated about 10 to 15 gallons of the diesel spilled onto the road. Crews had all lanes re-opened for traffic after about two hours.
