Driver strikes building on Wilkinson Boulevard

Frankfort Police say he lost control of van

State Journal staff report, Published:

Police said a man walked away without injuries after he lost control and crashed into a Frankfort building Friday morning.

Frankfort Police Capt. Robert Warfel said Roger Hamilton, 72, was driving south on Wilkinson Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. when he lost control of his van.

Witnesses allegedly said they saw Hamilton’s front, right tire wobble just before the crash.

Warfel said the van left the roadway, hit a stop sign, a state-owned pickup truck and a dumpster before crashing into the corner of the office building for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet C-1 Garage at 1231 Wilkinson Blvd.

Hamilton only suffered minor cuts, Warfel said, and he refused medical treatment on the scene.

No criminal charges are expected.

  • That is a lot of solid objects to hit before crashing into the building for only doing 25 mph. ¬†Sheriff Melton said that drugs are suspected to be involved.

  • Does this mean the speed limit will drop to 15 mph?? :o(

  • Stay away from Wilkinson Blvd.¬† It's haunted!
