Public Retirees Chapter to host meeting Tuesday

The Bluegrass West Chapter of Kentucky Public Retirees meeting will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Frankfort VFW, 104 E. Second St.

The speaker will be Robin Hartman, the KPR Public Relations Media/Marketing Consultant.

Attendees are eligible for a door prize.

All Kentucky, county, city and state police retirement system retirees, and those who are eligible to retire, are urged to attend.  Dues for the first year are free and $15 yearly thereafter.  As a member, you will receive the quarterly KPR Newsletter, can participate in KPR activities, and sign up for updates on legislative issues on the website, kentuckypublicretirees.org and join us on Facebook.

Parkinson’s Support Group to meet 

The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet Tuesday at Thorn Hill Education Center, 700 Leslie Ave. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. to share snacks and visit with each other and the guest speaker begins at 6. This month a speech therapist will discuss the connection between Parkinson’s disease and voice issues.

South Frankfort Neighborhood Assoc.announces meeting

The South Frankfort Neighborhood Association has scheduled its next quarterly meeting for July 24 at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church on the corner of Steele and West Third streets.

Use the entrance along West Third to get to the church’s Fellowship Hall. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for social hour and dinner with donations accepted for the Randy Bacon Memorial Scholarship.

At 7 p.m., the meeting will begin and members will review the results of the SFNA survey, hear a presentation from a former scholarship winner and his fundraising efforts to intern in New Zealand, review and adopt proposed changes to the SFNA bylaws, and elect new officers to the SFNA Executive Committee.

Bridgeport announces kindergarten registration

Registration for incoming kindergarten students who will be attending Bridgeport Elementary School will be Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.

Registration dates set for Franklin County High School

Franklin County High School registration for incoming freshmen and returning students will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. July 28 and 29 in the school cafeteria.

New student registration will take place July 30-Aug. 1 in the guidance office between the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.

Freshman orientation will be at the school July 29 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Hospice to raffle
car as fundraiser

Hospice of the Bluegrass is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a 2014 silver Camry LE from Glenn Toyota.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased now. A maximum of 400 tickets will be sold. If fewer than 300 tickets are sold, the winner will receive $1,000.

The winner of the raffle will be drawn during the Black and White Bash, which is Sept. 13 from 6:30-11 p.m. at the Frankfort Country Club.

The evening includes dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Bash tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased by calling 502-223-1744 or online at hospicebg.org.
