Fundraising going well for Barr

State Journal staff report, Published:

Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Barr has topped his 2012 fundraising efforts after raising $326,066 in this year’s second quarter, according to figures reported by his campaign Tuesday.

The second-quarter total brings his overall receipts to $2.17 million with more than four months until the Nov. 4 election. Barr, a first-term incumbent from Lexington, raised $2.13 million in his win over former Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler of Versailles.

Barr’s campaign coffers stand at $1.4 million cash on hand, up from $1.1 million the previous reporting period.

Barr raised $157,006 from individual contributors, and most of his fundraising came in $161,691 collected from political committees, according to his report filed with the Federal Election Commission. He spent $70,274 in this year’s second quarter.

Barr will face Democrat Elisabeth Jensen, whose campaign had not released fundraising totals at press time. She had raised $474,016 with $184,378 on hand as of April 30, according to the FEC.

Tuesday marked the deadline for second-quarter reports.

  • I read this article to say Barr is "bought and paid for."  I'm ready for him to be "one and done!"  I like what I read about Elisabeth Jensen and put great stock into the opinions of wiser people than me who support her.  I'm voting for Elisabeth Jensen!
