Franklin County High School football star Kaelin Ammons will be presenting Kentucky this week when he will play in the annual Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star football game.
The game will take place Friday at 7 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.
Ammons, who finished a very prolific career as the Flyer quarterback and was runner-up for Mr. Football, is one of three quarterbacks chosen to play in the game. Joining him are Trinity's Nick Petrino and Christian County's Keith Tandy.
Also on the Kentucky team is Doug Beaumont, who won Mr. Football and played running back, wide receiver and defensive back for Male.
Ammons threw for 10,058 yards and 109 touchdowns in his career at FCHS. That yardage ranks him fourth all-time in Kentucky and he's ninth in touchdown passes. He also ranks third all-time career passing attempts and consecutive games with a touchdown pass. He's fourth in career pass completions.
Ammons, who will play football next year for Georgetown College, is the first All-Star from Frankfort to play in the battle against Tennessee since 1998 when Franklin County's Mike Roberts and Western Hills' Patrick Wells represented Kentucky.
Tickets for the game are $10 each at the gate. There are no advanced ticket sales.
