Marcus Washington, left, and D.J. Smith, students in the Frankfort High School fashion and interior design class, model clothes in the New York Collection for the Cities Around the World FHS Fashion Show Wednesday.

From the bright colors of Tokyo to laidback Los Angeles, fashion was on display at Frankfort High School Wednesday.

As part of the fashion and interior design course's final project, Rachel Kahly's students organized the show, complete with casual wear and prom attire and student models.

It was the second year for the show and the first time an actual runway was constructed for models, according to Mattie Hutcherson, a student in the class who acted as model and event organizer.

"It was to show what styles we've been covering," Hutcherson said.

"Cities Around the World" was the theme. Aside from Tokyo and Los Angeles, students modeled the latest trends in London, England, Dallas, New York and Paris.

The class' 12 students organized the fashion show to include more models and more "looks" compared to last year, Kahly said.

She said students researched fashions, contacted retailers and choreographed the event. The work took a month from start to finish, Kahly said.

For the show, the class borrowed clothing from Nitro, Fashion Bug, Geno's Formal Wear in Lexington, Kmart and Capital Tux Rental and walked down the aisles of FHS' auditorium to songs from the musical "Grease," artist Tom Jones and singer Pink.

Students Heather Brewer and Joe Clark emceed the event by introducing models and describing the attire for each walk down the runway.
