Guy Morriss considers ThorobredsMarch 11, 2008
Guy Morriss may end up coaching in Kentucky after all. Morriss, the former UK football coach who recently turned down the Boyle County High School position, could be coaching at Kentucky State University this fall.
Farrier said Morriss, who's currently on vacation, has visited the KSU campus.
After going 7-5 in his second season, Morriss left UK to become head coach at Baylor. He was at the Big 12 school for five years before being released at the end of the 2007 season after going 18-40 during his tenure. "I know he knows football," Farrier said, "and he could help make the program better. His name recognition could allow us to secure some sponsorships. People might see us as a stronger entertainment possibility, and he could help with student-athletes who want to play football and get a great education." Morriss is a graduate of Texas Christian University and was a Pro Bowl center in the NFL. He played with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1973-83 and the New England Patriots from 1984-87. Farrier recently completed his third season as head coach at KSU. The Thorobreds had winning seasons his first two years but fell to 3-8 last season. Farrier is 16-17 in his three years at Kentucky State. Kentucky State is a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, an NCAA Div. II conference. Comments
