Shoppers get the Kohl's experienceApril 9, 2008
Customers and employees stand outside the new Kohl’s department store, located in the Parkside Development on Versailles Road, as they wait for the grand opening this morning. The crowd gathered by 8 a.m. and by 8:15 a.m. were purchasing their first items. Construction began in the summer, and eager customers have been driving by over the past few months to watch the progress. The Frankfort YMCA has added a number of new classes and programs recently for toddler aged children. This includes gymnastics, arts, motor development (through sports/games), and music/movement classes. We have offered swim classes for children ages 6 months and older for a number of years. As always we offer financial assistance for those families who may not be able to afford the entire program fee. Please follow the link below to look at a list of current offerings for the spring session. Thanks.

Does anyone know what else is coming over there?

There is alot more coming around the KOHLS, The cattlemans resturant is not all that. I would throw Longhorns hamburger over the top of Cattlemans Filet to make it better!

Thanks, they seem to look alike. I have never been in either one. At least there'll be something else there besides the Kohls. I rather have it developed than have it the way it looks right now over there.

Trying -- that's supposed to be a Cattleman's restaurant, like the one in Shelbyville.

Is that log-type building they are building near the Kohls area a Texas Roadhouse in the making?

Thank you Getoverit. I'll have to look into it.

The YMCA has mommy and me swim lessons. I used to teach them a couple of years ago. There is always a good amount of parents/children enrolled. When I was at the Y I met a lot of other single parents. Prevention Park is where they are taught. The pool there is much warmer the one downtown.

18-months is a tough age to find activities.
One of my girls participated in a class at Capital City Dance Studio when she was very small (about 3, I think). She even got to perform in the recital with a costume (which was a REALLY big deal to her). That's about the "youngest" activity I can recommend.

I know the ballet school downtown has a class on Saturdays for little ones that age. But classes end soon. The Y might have something, I'm not sure.
I agree with the pool situation. I heard the east side one won't be open this year and they don't know yet about the Juniper Hill one either. They are not a very nice place to be either. Even the Y downtown has pool issues. A new pool would be nice. But this is getting off topic. I think we can agree on that Frankfort's downtown area needs some work. And while Big Box stores are welcomed by some, it is not helping the beautification project of Frankfort. Only time will tell;) Next 10 Comments Login above or Register to comment. |
