While bleakness hit Frankfort's west side Thursday with Home Depot's closing announcement, some good news surfaced on the east side, according to development attorney Charlie Jones. Jones said Sportsman's Warehouse is interested in opening a 54,000 square foot facility in the Parkside shopping center on Versailles Road by Interstate 64.
"Sportsman's Warehouse will be a tremendous asset and will draw regionally," Jones said. "They are big out west. There are probably a hundred stores across the country " including one in Lexington." Jones said he is working with the company to file an application soon with the Frankfort/Franklin County Planning Commission. Sportsman's Warehouse is looking at the site adjacent to and in front of Kohl's department store, which opened in April. Cattleman's Road House will be opening in about two weeks in Parkside, Jones said. Also, construction will begin in the next two weeks on a new Starbucks and Dairy Queen in Parkside, Jones said. Meier's still remains "an outside possibility, Jones said. "Everybody's hopeful and a lot is still available there for them."

Thanks Frankfort! Just what we need is another bubba outfit to ruin the countryside. We let Wal-Mart take over the west side shopping center and look at it. Chewing gum, spilled drinks, and trash all over the parking lot, and fights in and out of the store. With this animal sniper store we will have every Neanderthal from 50 miles around ruin everything. We try to have nice stores like Kohl's and try to attract others and we have to ruin things.

I would prefer Dick's Sporting Goods.

Re Cracker Barrel - just ask Alice Hume or Crit Luellan why we don't have one.
Sportsman Warehouse will draw from multiple counties and not just Franklin County. Most people around here gripe there is nothing to do and when someone tries to bring something in they gripe about it. Maybe people should quit talking out of both sides of their mouth?

Why are you duplicating places that already exist? What is wrong with a CRACKER BARREL? Who is afraid of us getting a CRACKER BARREL? It's a clean family restaurant. My God, someone has to give in.

One thing I'm having trouble understanding is where people getting there money to spend. My payment to Chevron credit card really hurt us!
Maybe Alice Hume could help everybody out!

Must be nice to be able to go to these stores and spend money when us poor people cant afford to go to work because of the gas prices and the economy!

There is already a Sportsman's Warehouse in Lexington at the corner of Winchester Road and Sir Barton Way.
