FCHS students compete in Foreign Language Festival

Franklin County High School Foreign Language students once again participated in the Bluegrass Region Foreign Language Festival sponsored by the Kentucky World Language Association.

The festival was held on Saturday, March 1 at Transylvania University. More than 15 schools and more than 250 students from public and private high schools in central Kentucky participated.

Competition was held in the academic areas of speaking proficiency, listening proficiency, drama, dialogues, literary recitation and pronunciation. Non-academic competitions included art, construction models, projects, chorus, video and costumes.

Native speakers and/or college professors judged the events.

FCHS students entered 19 categories in French and had 25 winners, including two medallions, 10 blue ribbons, four red ribbons and nine white ribbons.
In Spanish, Franklin County entered 21 categories and had 55 winners, including nine medallions, 34 blue ribbons, six red ribbons and six white ribbons.
