LACK OF DISCRETIOINMay 6, 2008
It is obvious the State Journal is unable to edit comments posted under certain articles before they go on the website...and in most cases it is unnecessary. Despite all the bickering and differing view points, everyone is free to voice their opinion. However, in the case of "Man admits to using Internet to lure teen for sex (May 4, 2008)", one reader took it upon themselves to tell everyone the 14 year old victim's name. Despite being quite tacky in itself, the reader goes on to call her names, her mother names, and even brings her grandfather into it. I'm not a lawyer, but I do know most publications do not publish the names of victim's of sexual abuse and other such crimes. Is there nothing that can be done about this? Comments

I agree smartgirl! If they (state-journal) are going to let anyone post stuff like that then they need to have someone moderate the forums at all times.

The poster was "lolwhores" -- the person posted not on the victim's name, but also several instances of the "f-word" throughout their posts.

they pulled it, i'm assuming only after your post.
who was the poster?

I agree, the teenager's name should never be used, they have the right to anonymity

Yes, I know I made a typo...it's discretion. Just wanted to clear that up before my whole topic was overlooked and I was chained to the whipping post.

Yeah -- back when Monte Chance was being raked over the coals in some of the forums, they were locked from the public for further comment and/or all the comments deleted altogether.

You can find the contact information very easily on the web page. Mike Veno is the systems administrator if you'd bother to look.
Now thanks to Rick's insistence on posting his menu on two and slurs being used on another, three forums are unavailable. I meant what I said about reporting to the paper. "Chuckster" or whoever had nothing to do with it.

You can report inappropriate comments. Ask the Chuckster for the direct contact info. He has used it a couple of times to get Rick Paul's menu postings removed.
