Candidates open offices Local offices for the two Democratic Presidential candidates are now open. Offices for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama are located in the Plan Graphics building on Main Street and opened Tuesday. Headquarters for U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton are located in the AFL-CIO offices on Democrat Drive and are expected to open today. Volunteers are also working out of a satellite office in the Marcus building on St.
Bloodmobile stop is Thursday The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the American Legion Post 7, 164 Versailles Road, Thursday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Donors must be 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. No appointments are necessary. There is currently a 72-hour supply of blood. Type O- has less than a 12-hour supply. Call the chapter at 223-1795 for more information. Veterans to be recognized A three-day celebration to recognize war veterans will start Friday in Frankfort. The Kentucky All Veterans Reunion will be held at the Capital Plaza Hotel. Events include an 8 p.m. candlelight service on Friday at the Vietnam Memorial and music and speakers at the hotel. There will be a nondenominational church service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The festivities include vendors with food, various clothing and other items. Veterans and non-veterans are welcome. For more information contact Mike "Hoss" Cartwright, 229-8454. Simon House holds reception The Simon House held its second annual reception for volunteers on Monday, Monday at the Salvation Army headquarters. This year's theme was "Simon House supporters and volunteers are fantastic." Some 25 certificates were presented to board members and all who have volunteered or donated to the Simon House during the past year. A brief program was presented by Georgetta Nelson, executive director. Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis and anyone interestedmay call the Simon House 223-2138. Comments
