Frankfort residents say rising gas prices will blunt the effect of the 130 million rebate checks designed to give the economy a jump-start.

However, many say they still have plans for the $600-$1,200 checks, the first batch of which started hitting bank accounts last week through direct deposits.

Millions of rebate checks are in the mail and have been issued according to the last two digits of the main filer's Social Security number. Payments are made by direct deposit or by mail, depending on how the 2007 tax return was filed.

Direct deposit payments will be transmitted no later than May 16.

Paper checks will be sent in a series of payments from May 16 to July 11. Those with digits falling between 00 and 09 will receive their stimulus checks by May 16, 19 through 25 by May 30 and 88 through 99 by July 11.

To find out exactly when checks should be transmitted or sent, go to www.irs.gov.

Can't wait to get our $1,200 so we can pay back $20,000 to justify this rebate check. You cannot give away money you don't have. None of our households could survive like this. Sure the government can print money to make up for it, but this is a joke! Our country is being destroyed!

HEY here's a kick in the head. If you did direct deposit through Turbo Tax or something like that you will receive a paper check because you went through a third party. How fair is that? I did my tax return direct deposit in February and I won't receive my stimulus until June on a paper check. Read this info at www.irs.gov. It's a load of crap as usual.

Jerry, right on, people that live within or below their means can weather most storms when they happen to blow in.

Pinpointer, he is getting the money from US. It is called tax revenue already confiscated by the government with the help of our employers. Also, Bush is not sending us anything. It is our Congress and Senate that passed this crazy legislation. Bush doesn't need your vote. The congressmen and senators do. Here we go again with everything wrong in the world is Bush's fault.

A hat with a belt buckle?? I was driving by a large house w/big yard, several expensive cars, etc. one day w/my sister. I made the remark that I'd like to have their money. My sister said she'd rather have what they owe.

Ever think about saving it? Why are we so in love with credit, debt, and living beyond ower means, Simple: We want everything, we want it Bigger,
Louder, Shinier, Faster, and we want it NOW. Instant gratification is as American as drive-through microwave apple pie.

How frugal is it to buy a separate belt buckle just for your hat? I'm not into keeping up with the "Jones", or living beyond my means, we judge which rung of the ladder you are perched on in this society is by what color credit card you carry. For American Express, the
once-prestigious Green card can be replaced by the Gold card. Keep charging, and you are eligible for the Platinum card, which can now be trumped by the upper-echelon Black card. Soon you will be able to just have a bar code sewn
onto your ass, so that there's absolutely no way you can leave home without it.

Let me say that today, I am fortunate, because I have the money to
pay off my credit cards at the end of each month -- however, , Live with in your means and you to can save it.

The only other choice, is to charge, charge charge, Hoping a killer asteroid obliterates the earth, causing
tidal waves and cosmic fires that destroy every submicroscopic trace of life on
this planet as we know it, and I still owe three grand on my Visa, I win.
