Owner and manager Rocky Blankenship opened Rocco’s Pizza on New Year’s Day of this year. He says his focus is good pizza and family atmosphere.

Rocco's Pizza emphasizes its family atmosphere.

Owner and manager Rocky Blankenship said since the restaurant's opening on Jan. 1, Rocco's has served Frankfort as a good spot for families.

"People can expect good food, good service and a great atmosphere," Blankenship said.

Along with the pizza, subs, wings and desserts, Blankenship said his establishment offers entertainment through several big-screen TVs and a game room. The game room was designed for parents to have a place to bring their children, he said.

"It's a great place for the kids to have a good time," Blankenship said.

Blankenship also said the game room is large enough for birthday parties and banquets. At the price of $8.99 per person, each child receives 10 tokens, two slices of pizza and a drink. Rocco's will also match 30 percent of extra tokens purchased by customers.

His wife, Stephanie Blankenship, attributes the family atmosphere to their connection with the Frankfort community.

"The best part about owning Rocco's is getting to interact with the community and providing good food for people," Stephanie Blankenship said.

Rocco's relationship with the community is based on a welcoming, cozy atmosphere, she said.
Rocco's Pizza employees say they enjoy working for the Blankenships as well as bringing their families to eat.

Ashley Tabor, an employee for four months, recently had her son Logan's fifth birthday party at the restaurant.

"It was awesome," Tabor said. "They had a blast. They stayed in the game room the whole time. I love the environment."

Another employee, server Lori Perry, is in charge of coordinating and decorating for the parties.

"I love working with Rocky," Perry said.

But Perry also said she wished they could develop a better lunch crowd.

Rocky Blankenship said Rocco's is more than just a fun atmosphere " he puts effort into his recipes too.

"We've been told by customers that we have the best wings and pizza in Frankfort," he said. "We use a 40-year-old recipe for our pizza crust and it's made fresh daily. We also use tomato sauce instead of tomato paste which makes a big difference."

The restaurant also offers drive-through service.

As for long-term goals, Stephanie Blankenship said she hopes Rocco's will have staying power.

"We want to be a family establishment in a small community," she said. "It's such a neat thing to be a part of the community on such a level."

She also said it would nice to stick around long enough for their children, Griffin, 7, and Gabrielle, 6, to be a part of the restaurant.

Rocky Blankenship agreed, but said, "They already think they own the place."

I had my daughter's birthday party there in April and the service was fantastic. We had a large party of adults and did not use any of the party packages but the girls who waited on us went way beyond the call of duty to make sure we were taken care of!

Tried Roccos once on a late Friday night. Food was good but not the best in town. Was not very hot to have been fresh cooked. Had a long wait time (30 minutes plus.)Cheese sticks were cold and pizza was not even steaming when it came out. Waiters need some major training. Never came around to check on us or get drink refills. Had to flag her down to get refills as she wandered around socializing with the other staff. Had to flag her down again to get ticket to pay. I believe the prices are a little high. Can eat buffet pizza in town much cheaper and get hot food with much better service. Total cost was $50 for a family of four.

Looks like Rocky got the best and cheapest marketing/performance survey possible through the SJ. Rocky I am not a business man but from the posts it looks like you know where to direct your efforts.

I've tried twice now to eat there, once at lunch and once for dinner. We left after 20 minutes of complete non-attention from anyone at lunch, and found better service at McDonalds. Dinner, well, not much better. However, I didn't have a timeline so we waited...and waited...and waited. Ok, I had two hungry kids, and it took over an hour to get our food and that was after 15 minutes or so before we even were asked for our order, and I'm sorry, but I disagree about how "great" it is. The wings were bland, it tasted like they took frozen Wal-mart wings and dumped Red Hot hot sauce over them, threw them in a warmer and done...and the pizza? Shoot, for all the problems we had, Papa John's is a better bet!

I've had Rocco's twice. First time was carry-out, second time we ate in. For a busy Friday night the service wasn't bad. Good restaurant servers seem to be hard to find in Frankfort. Every time a new restaurant opens servers from an established restaurant end up at the new one. I realize some servers better themselves by moving on, while others aren't getting the hours for one reason or another. So I think that when Mr. Gatti's or any other new restaurant comes to town service may not be too swift there either. The best bet for Rocco's is go the way of the buffet especially for lunch. Even with that the kitchen crew is going to have to speed up production.

I've ordered delivery twice, both on Saturday afternoons. They deliver to SWITZER for a modest $3.00 delivery. With the current price of gas, it would cost me that much to drive to pick it up. The pizza was very good, and even with the drive, it was delivered quickly. The wings were very good as well. I'll certainly call them again. I do have to give a shout out to Buddy's Pizza on Broadway. Mike and crew have the best pizza, but for delivery Rocco's is great! Thanks Rocky.

A couple of comments have been made regarding "The food is some of the best in Frankfort, if you ever get it."

i recommend the 'stromboli' then... it's a McRibb patty with a little bit of pizza sauce. the usual meats, cheeses, onions, etc. are all extra. uh, kinda not a stomboli then. think of the BQ Rib day for your school lunch, and that's what you get.
the waitress wasn't real receiving to my critique either. GL Rocco, not real good reviews or 'staying power' by the posts so far. One plus, the cheese sticks are on point.

I have been to Rocco's a few times. Right after they opened they had one waitress that seemed to run the place. Have not seen her for weeks. Some friends went last week during lunch and waited for 45 minutes for our food, then the waitress asked us what our order was, left and came back and said she had lost our order. I like the food, but can't take 2 hours for lunch. Have been there, when this happened to others, too. Please hire more experienced help!!

Even with my negative comments (and the negative comments of the others) about the service, I do have one big request for Mr Blankenship: DO NOT CHANGE THE RECIPES!.

The food is some of the best in Frankfort, if you ever get it.

I love reading the quote from Mr. Blakenship that people can expect "good service". Well, get in there and train those servers!

If you're looking for great tasting pizza go to Bella Pizza. Walk in and the hard working guys in the kitchen will make you whatever you want.

And, they have the best dough in town.

BTW - I've been to Rocco's three times: 1st time - nobody even asked me if I wanted anything; 2nd time - went there because somebody else asked me to go (service that time was fine); and 3rd time the food was good, but the server was just not trained at all.

Go to Bella Pizza!!

I don't own Bella Pizza BTW - just like their pizza and the great, hardworking guys in the kitchen.
