Mom accused of murdering baby can't see kids

A Frankfort woman in jail on charges she murdered her baby can't see her two other children, a judge has ruled.

Jaime L. Jockers, 25, 505 Owenton Ave. #18, was charged with murder in 2006 after smoking crack near her infant daughter, Brooklyn Paige McIntyre.

Autopsy reports said McIntyre died from second hand crack smoke inhalation.

Jockers has two other children by different fathers, ages 5 and 6, whom she requested to see through supervised visitation at the Franklin County Regional Jail, according to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Dana Todd.

Jockers' attorney, Kristin Gonzalez, made a motion in Franklin Circuit Court May 16 for Jockers to visit with her children, who are currently in foster care.
Gonzalez said in court she believed Family Court Judge Reed Rhorer had ruled visitation was a possibility for Jockers' children.

But Franklin Circuit Judge Thomas Wingate denied the motion in a court order Thursday, citing the gravity of Jockers' charges and because termination of parental rights proceedings are underway.

"The court is troubled with the defendant's suggestion that it is in the children's best interest to visit their mother in jail," Wingate's order said.
The order also said the court was unable to find any record of Rhorer's ruling on the visitation matter.

"I think this is a good example of our court system working the way it should and the courts working together and with the Commonwealth's Attorney's office to do everything we can to protect children," Todd said.

Jockers is scheduled to be tried for the murder in August. She also faces trafficking charges to be tried in November.

Jockers was previously on home incarceration after family members posted a $10,000 bond, Todd said.

Todd said Jockers failed an alcohol screening, violating a condition of her release.

"She had the opportunity to see her children earlier," Todd said. "I know there are a lot of professionals working to protect these kids."

Jockers' co-defendant, Michael McIntyre, 22, Brooklyn Paige's father, pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter in a June 2007 plea deal. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. McIntyre had also been indicted for murder in the death of Brooklyn in March of 2006. She was 5 months old at the time.

According to court documents, Jockers told police her relationship with McIntyre ended at the time of his arrest.

Todd said Jockers has a profile on a Web site titled "Jail Babes" at www.cowtowninfo.com. On the page Jockers said she is possibly interested in a long-term relationship and is "looking for a good man with a big heart and a sense of humor."

The page lists Jockers' reason for being in jail as "trafficking.'

Todd said Jockers also maintained a page on the Internet social networking Web site Myspace while on home incarceration.

Jockers' profile says, "NOT GUILTY" near her picture. The page features photo montages of Jockers' children, including McIntyre, concert footage of songwriter James Taylor and a banner saying, "Brooklyn is our little angel in heaven."

I certainly hopes she gets psychiatric help she obviously needs. Maybe then she can see how her actions affected those kids.

The article says the other two children are in foster care. Where are their fathers? Their fathers families? Ms. Jockers family? Nowhere to be found, or losers themselves? Perhaps they are better off in foster care.

This proves once again that you can be a loser regardless of shape, size, race or sex.
