wtf... pageants... you're either born with or pay for plenty of surgery and makeup. Ive never understood why girls want to get up in front of a bunch of people and say "Judge me based on my outward appearance and how well I can do some kind of insignificant 'talent'." No wonder so many girls have such low self esteem. Their speeches are just a bunch of b.s. that they think everyone wants to hear. And seriously... if an employer ever hires someone because "I won the Franklin County Fair pageant" was on their resume... Try putting your time into something useful and productive so you can put things like "I patented the first aftermarket hydrogen fuel system." Thats something that helps people, doesnt lower a fat girls self esteem, keeps guys focused on a girls personality, saves billions on fuel costs, and will pay for college in full. "I won the Franklin County Fair Pageant!" ... congrats, you and the smartest kid with downs syndrom can hang out now, you're in the same class.

I happen to personally know Kristina.
Although she has exterior beauty, she also has an amazing personality.
I think it is rediculous that people feel the need to post rude comments on here about her and the other girls as well.
In my opinion if you win or if you compete in the pageant it takes a ton of courage and NO ONE has a right to try and say that it isn't important or hard to be in a pageant.

Puh-leeze,

I just wanted to let you know that I am a college graduate and am going to graduate school this fall. Also, I HAVE competed in a pageant (one that included a talent portion) and it wasn't "hard." The "hardest" part (if you can even say that) was not walking in front of everyone, or trying to "think on your feet," but actually preparing months in advance by learning dances. Even the dances were not "hard" if you were coordinated. So please do not make judgments about the people leaving comments.

Also, I understand that $1000 can be a SLIGHT help (by no means a "big" help) towards college costs but it's not a highlight to all the girls. Only one or some scholarships were received. I hope these girls can put "Miss Congeniality" or "Miss Franklin County Fair" on their resume to get a job in the future and we'll see if it's a highlight to them then.

I also like how this is sounding like it is an accomplishment to be pretty...

We get it Lila/z4 (the common grammatical errors aren't a coincidence). You didn't make it in pageant land and your entire life has been a practice in resentment and bitterness ever since. Anyone whi doesn't thin a grand is a big help toward college costs either hasn't got a kid in college (or never went him/hersef) or has more money than sense. Winning this pageant indeed is a significant accomplishment and all the young women who competed has every right to be proud.

That is great... I hope you will enter a pageant but until then why can't you keep your opinions to yourself. After you have prepped for a pageant then you can say it isn't hard work.

Oh and by the way the list has about 20 questions on it... I helped my sister prepare for the pageant so I saw it with my own eyes. And you might want to review the pageants on Cable 10 because each girl in the Miss Franklin County Fair pageant was asked a different question so that is at least 10, not 2 or 3 as you have suggested.

By bash girls I mean purposely try to hurt their feelings. News flash: they look at this website too.

crissy1603,

Apparently your reading comprehension is a little off. Please tell where I bash little girls. If I had a sister that was in a beauty pageant, I'd still feel the same way. Also, tell me where I said you shouldn't do something that you enjoy.

I keep hearing how these pageants are hard, but no one will give me an example. Is picking out a swimsuit hard or picking out an evening gown hard or trying to remember answers to a bunch of cheesy questions hard. Help me out here.

BTW, there aren't 20 questions, you're wrong about that. My friend who worked the pageant saw the list of questions, plus, explain to me how there were no more than 3 questions asked at the pageants that I've seen on channel 10. The same questions get asked over and over. There is no way that there are 20 questions possible yet only 2 or 3 get asked. I've seen where they pick the question out of a hat, bowl or whatever it is. Being that there are usually less than 20 contestants, each contestant should get a different question. They also get plenty of time to prep for the questions. It's not as though the questions are that thought provoking. The goal is to give an answer that you think will impress the judges.

Just for you crissy1603, I'll try to enter the pageant next year. If I can, I'll wear a bathing suit and an evening gown along with some high heels and if anyone wonders why some creepy guy is up there, I'll tell them that crissy1603 told me I couldn't say anything about the pageants until I was in one.

My sister was in the pageant this year and yes, she worked very hard to prepare for it. The reason she does the pageant: because she enjoys it! What is so wrong with doing something you like to do??? She has had a hard year and this was her time to shine and she did! I am so proud of her. She had to form an answer to a question on stage, walk with poise and grace, wear a swimsuit in front of a lot of people and all while wearing heels. I don't think you need to bash pageants until you have actually been in one. And personally, I think someone who has time to talk bad about young women on the internet needs to get a life. Please respond... I can't wait to read your 'i have no life' response.

I have been reading these comments as you all have posted them and have finally convinced myself to include my own. My little sister was in the pageant this year and yes, she worked VERY hard to prepare for the pageant. The reason she does the pageant is because she really enjoys it... it is fun for her. What is so wrong with doing something you find fun? I think that those of you with negative comments have no place to talk until you are actually in a pageant... then you can talk badly about it. Until then, why bash what these girls like to do? Personally I think that someone who has time to belittle young girls on the internet needs to get a life!

By the way, they were given a list of about 20 questions in advance. They had no clue which question they were going to be asked on stage. They had to form opinions on each question and then put it into words on demand. Believe it or not they do have to answer the questions without a lot of prep.
