A motorcyclist is in critical condition after being injured in a collision Saturday afternoon on U.S. 127 in West Frankfort, a hospital spokesperson says.
Belinda Moore, 45, and Robert Moore, 48, both of Frankfort, were riding a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle north-bound on U.S. 127 at Limestone. They collided with a white 2002 Toyota Highlander SUV at approximately 6 p.m., according to police.
Robert Moore was listed as being in fair condition Monday morning and Belinda Moore was in critical condition, according to the spokesperson at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
The SUV was heading south on 127 and driven by Amy Lee, 26, of Frankfort, with three children as passengers police said. No one in the SUV was injured.
The Moores were transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to UK.

As someone who has lost a loved one (my father) in a motorcycle accident. I know the devastation that a terrible accident like this can cause. My heart goes out to everyone involved. I agree w/ most posts that pointing fingers and laying blame can't change the outcome of what happened.
I would like to add that I think there should be a helmet law in Kentucky... we are forced to wear our seatbelts, but motorcyclists are not forced to wear helmets - that doesn't make much sense. I am obviously prejudiced because a helmet may have saved my father - who died of head trauma.
Also, we need to be more aware of motorcyclists becuase they accelerate and slow down MUCH faster than cars. So we need to pay closer attention when sharing the road w/ them :)
Everyone involved in this terrible tragedy is in my prayers.

This is a horrible accident. An accident is when something was done without intent. Ms. Lee did not intentionally hit the motorcyclist. As a long-time friend of Ms. Lee I can safely say she is devastated. All parties involved are in my prayers. As for the posts that are maliciously attacking the victims, please stop. The victims and their loved ones have enough to deal with right now.

Well, z4life aren't you just a ray of sushine. Someone considerate to those who are hurting. I would like to know your real name since you have so many wonderful things to say. I'm sure you have never made a mistake or poor judgements. Don't say you have just give me your name and I'll do the research for myself.
You people are really just quite ridiculous. This is a time for everyone to be worried and praying. It is a no win situation. No matter who's fault or what the situation was people are hurting and suffering. This includes the two motorcylclists, the driver, the children, and witnesses. And also each and every family member affected. This was not an intentional thing it was an ACCIDENT! Something that was not ment to happen. There are two individuals who are physically injured and fighting to recover. And then a lot more who will live with this event forever. I know Ms.Lee is dealing with it everyday as well as the young elementary school children that witnessed it.
You, z4life I see only worries about your opinions and feelings. However this is not about YOU! This is about the people affected and who are dealing with something devastating. Something each of the individuals will deal with the rest of their lives!!!! Instead of pointing fingers you should be saying this:
To the Moore's and their families I hope that things get better. I know this is going to be a long hard recovery and you are in everyone's prayers. And Ms. Lee I pray for you and your children. I can only wish this can get better for those involved in this tragedy.
Yes there would be something wrong with everyone who doesn't feel bad in this situation. And something wrong with you if you don't feel some compassion to those whose lives will forever be changed by this!!!

Aside from everything else; how is the couple doing? Have they recovered from the accident? I hope so.

Nice try HeIsLegend but you failed. She was facing SSW (according to my GPS) and she was looking due South due to the curve in the road. Also, the sun was too high in the sky to get in her eyes unless she was looking up in the sky and to the right. I go home that way every day, around 5, and the only time the sun is ever low enough to possibly get in my eyes is during the winter months when the days are shorter and the sunset happens around 6 or so. Being that the sunset happened after 8:30 during the day of the wreck, I fail to see how the sun would be a factor. Yes, car wrecks happen all the time and most of them are preventable. Actually, a wreck is reported every 206.6 seconds in Ky according to the KSP. I'm doing this at home so I hope that makes you happy.
It doesn't matter what kind of driver Ms. Lee is, she made a poor judgement call and hit a motorcycle. That's an undeniable fact. Also, I'm sure she feels bad, she caused the wreck. I would feel terrible too if I hit two motorcyclist and it was my fault. If she didn't feel bad then I would think something was wrong with her.
I always find it funny that people seem to get upset and say that no one should point fingers or pass judgement etc., in an article like this, yet, if the article has to do with something like politics, then the finger pointing and judgement passing is in full force and hardly anyone says a thing about it. Nice double standard. If someone that was in the wreck or someone that knows someone in the wreck wants to read these comments, then they should be prepared for anything. It's the freakin' internet. It gives people like me a chance to post my opinion. Does it hurt my feelings if someone calls me a douchebag, of course not, I could care less. Unlike some people that have posted on this website, I have pretty thick skin. Since I dish it out, I also have to take it. If someone doesn't like the way that I post, then skip what I write. My sarcasm kicks in when I hear silly things, such as, someone will read the comments on this website to help them determine whether or not they should move here.
ahyatt, "As evidenced by your statements, you are obviously much more enlightened and intelligent than the rest of us underlings." Thank you for the compliment. I'm sorry that posting the truth bothers you. I suppose I should just sugarcoat everything so that everyone feels all warm and fuzzy inside. Sorry for speaking my mind, what was I thinkin'?

To the Moores and their family and loved ones please know you are in thoughts and prayers. I have had a loved one terribly injured and know what an ordeal it is. You are showing class in the face of a traumatic event. Godspeed to the recovery of your loved ones.
I am another poster who knows the driver. She is a very caring, intelligent and vibrant young woman who would never intentionally hurt anyone. I have ridden with her a number of times and have known her to be nothing other than an alert and competent driver. That is saying a lot because I am very particular about who I will ride with. She is a devoted and wonderful mother and would never be careless or reckless at any time, much less with children in the car. Anyone who knows her level of compassion and concern knows she is truly devastated and would immediately trade places with either of the Moores if possible. If people are speaking up in her defense it is simply because she is an incredible and compassionate person who gains love and respect from everyone who knows her. I am praying for everyone whose lives have been changed by this tragedy.

People make mistakes and accidents happen. Accidents happen in all walks of life and in all social-economic groups. It does no good to point fingers or criticize anyone. Supposition on any factor can lead to judgment calls that have no grounds or basis in fact. The only facts known to the general public is who was involved in the accident, the location, time of day, and the vehicles involved.
The most productive thing anyone can do at this point is to be there for the families of both parties. Offer comfort, support and pray for all involved.
I have read many posts here from my family members on the accident and the really odd thing is that they aren't the ones making judgment calls.
I don't know Ms. Lee, but I am sure she is traumatized by the accident, but probably not as much as the children who were with her. My heart and prayers go out to her and the children.
My cousin and his wife have a very long and difficult road ahead of them. His sisters and brother are in shock and are hurting for their brother and sister-in-law. I love them all and pray for them continually.
Please take a moment and just pray for these 6 people who were involved in the accident and then pray for their families. It only takes a moment and will help them.
