A motorcyclist is in critical condition after being injured in a collision Saturday afternoon on U.S. 127 in West Frankfort, a hospital spokesperson says.
Belinda Moore, 45, and Robert Moore, 48, both of Frankfort, were riding a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle north-bound on U.S. 127 at Limestone. They collided with a white 2002 Toyota Highlander SUV at approximately 6 p.m., according to police.
Robert Moore was listed as being in fair condition Monday morning and Belinda Moore was in critical condition, according to the spokesperson at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
The SUV was heading south on 127 and driven by Amy Lee, 26, of Frankfort, with three children as passengers police said. No one in the SUV was injured.
The Moores were transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to UK.

z4life lets educate you.... she was at a light that faces southwest. she wasnt facing southeast until she hit the bike. are you following me here? at this time of the year, sitting at that light, the sun sets right behind Wendy's. Stop being a douchebag. It was a car accident. They happen every few seconds. Get back to work.

I am unsure as to what has triggered the cynicism and sarcasm laid out there by z4life...maybe you are a family member or friend of the injured and this is the best way you know how to express yourself. In that case, my sympathy and prayers extend to you as well. However, I find it sad that such a sharp tongue and smartaleck anonymous comments make you feel better. As evidenced by your statements, you are obviously much more enlightened and intelligent than the rest of us underlings. I would encourage anyone else who reads or posts: Simply ignore the desire to verbally retaliate against those who feed off the negativity. It's a waste of time and energy. Use that time and energy to pray for the Moore's instead.
I find it relevant to mention that the driver of the SUV is an officer of the law whom I trust with both my life and the life of my child, as my daughter was one of the children in the SUV. It is not in Ms. Lee's nature nor her professional manner to fabricate a reason why she did not see the bike. If she thinks the sun contributed, maybe so...but remember she is trying to find an explanation in her mind as well. Anytime there is an intersection with a green light, allowing a turn after yielding, there is an increased risk for mistakes to be made and accidents to happen. The children were quiet in the back seat and there was no radio on, so even Ms. Lee finds it difficult to understand why she could not hear the bike. She herself does not understand how this happened as she is a diligent driver. Anyone who has ever been in an accident walks around in a bit of a fog trying to put the pieces together and make sense of the series of events.
My heart is broken for all parties involved in this tragic situation. My daughter and I have prayed nightly for God to bring peace and healing to all. The Moore's and their family and friends deserve all the pouring out of love and support this community can manage...but I encourage you to direct some of that to the Lee family as well. She is devastated and will forever live with this tragedy.

jpeavler, explain to me how Ms. Lee is turning east and the sun, setting in the west, got in her eyes. Maybe it reflected off the golden arches :)
Yes, kids can be a distraction, that's your little factoid for the day. Did I say that's the reason why she hit the bike, nope, could it have been a contributing factor, yup.
Christian morals and values? What are you talking about? What kind of random question is that?
We know for a fact that she did not yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle. Everybody at the scene has stated this, so, unless they are all lying, I'm goin' go out on a limb and assume it's true. What conflicting stories are you talking about? She hit the bike and it was her fault. I have yet to see anybody state otherwise.
soccermom2802, it was an accident that was easily avoidable, just like most accidents that happen. "Stop all the finger pointing and blaming!!!" Are you saying no one is to blame for this accident?
Criminaljusticechick, who is acting like a child? People are discussing the accident. I have yet to see any real childish behavior. Sure, some of the responses are emotional, but nothing that I would describe as childish.
Who cares if the people who were involved in the accident and their families are reading these comments? Are people not allowed to express their opinions? No one is making the people from the accident or their families read this.
Do you seriously think that someone is going to let some comments from an itty bitty newspaper website influence their decision as to whether or not they move here? Please come back to reality. I'm sure your apology makes things all better now.

Everyone just needs to STOP IT right now!! The facts are: the police will determine what happened, everyone is a victim and people on here that are posting are acting like children!
This newspaper is read by the families of the people involved and by others that do not live in this town and what kind of image are we projecting acting like this?!?! Come on now! I grew up here and this childish behavior is horrible. Who wants to come to this city if this is the treatment that they will receive? People base their opinions on what they read, no matter what the intentions are.
My best wishes goes out to both families and let me apologize on behalf of my community for the behavior on this board. I hope all can realize that no matter what happened, lives were changed in the process - the lives of those involved and the lives of those who cares for them. Best wishes to all.

While every one is saying what they think they saw happen and pointing fingers my brother and his wife are laying in a hospital fighting for life. No noone ment for this to happen it was an accident and while the family does not hold resentment against this woman that fact is she hit them not the other way around. It is over and we all have to deal with what is left. And as far as the facts go if you want them get a police report we did.

This was a horrible accident and my heart goes out to both families. Stop all the finger pointing, I mean that's what the cops get paid to do. At this time we need to be thinking of those involved and not making this situation worse on both parties.

Here we go again blaming and pointing...that is NOT true that the sun couldn't have gotten in Ms. Lee's eyes...it's happened to me numerous times at that location. Now you're blaming the kids for being a distraction??? Where are your christian morals and values? This was a horrible accident and that's all....nobody did anything intentional or even negligent. Stop making judgments when it's obvious with all the conflicting stories on here that nobody knows for sure now, nor probably will be ever, about what really happened. As for me, I will pray for the speedy and complete recovery of the Moore's as well as emotional healing for both the Moore's and the Lee's.

That is a very dangerous intersection, especially when there's a traffic back-up at McDonald's. I know of several people who have had fender-benders there. The city really needs to do something about the traffic flow in that area. That small strip of road isn't sufficient for handling that amount of traffic.
