Father-daughter duo does dentistryAugust 18, 2008
Dr. Robert H. Rush and Dr. Cynthia Rush Yeiser Family Dental Care combines experience with fresh ideas. While the dental care office has been around for more than three decades, the addition of Rush's daughter means the office has truly come full circle. Yeiser, a 2008 graduate of the University of Kentucky's Dental School, recently joined her father's Frankfort practice. And she says his 30 years of experience and her new ideas and new equipment make the family business a one-of-a-kind office. "It has been really great being able to discuss treatment for patients with each other," Yeiser said. "I think that our patients really value the ability to get that second opinion right in our office." "We can teach each other new and old techniques," Rush added. "In other words, we are always learning from each other." A lot of their patients, according to Yeiser, have been coming to her father for years. She says it is a special experience now, because they've watched her grow up. "I think most patients find that we have a casual, but professional atmosphere," Yeiser said. "We are not in a hurry to get patients in and out. We want to know who you are and what you do." After receiving an economics degree from Washington and Lee University in 2004, Yeiser, who has been married for three months, says she knew she would go to dental school because she has witnessed her father's career from an early age. "I have always loved the health care field and knew it was where I would end up," Yeiser said. "I like the idea of coming to work each day and being presented with something new. Everyday is different." Rush, who graduated from the same dental school in 1978, also says he got the medical calling from his family. The building where their practice is located was used by his father, a general practice physician, for many years. "Some of the patients he treated still come to me for dentistry," Rush said. "We want our patients to enjoy coming to the dentist." Rush and Yeiser's Family Care Dental, which employs three local people, offers a variety of services like tooth whitening, veneers, implant restoration, cosmetic procedures, dentures, crowns and preventative services, Yeiser says. "My dad's motto is to treat patients like family," Yeiser said. "I think it is a great way to practice dentistry. I would not recommend something to my patients that I would not want done for myself. I like being able to discuss different treatment options." And Yeiser says there was never any doubt she would practice dentistry in Frankfort. "It has been a great place to grow up," Yeiser said. "I enjoy getting to work with the people of Frankfort on a daily basis." Rush echoed his daughter by saying that Frankfort is a wonderful place to work and raise a family. Comments
