Franklin County routs Covington Latin, 10-1

It did not take long for the Franklin County Flyer soccer team to score Tuesday night in their game against Covington Latin at Sower Field.

And the scores kept coming as t he Flyers went on to win 10-1.

Only 4 minutes had elapsed before Franklin County scored on a Jacob Messinger cross to Bryce Burton to put the Flyers up 1-0.

Two minutes later, Burton was on the assist side with a corner kick into Lyndon McKee who scored. A minute after that, Reed Roberts benefited from a Burton assist for another score.

At the 28:26 mark, Roberts got another goal with an assist from Messinger.

Senior Steffen Krebbs took over the statistics for the rest of the half, scoring two goals on assists from Adam Jones and passing to McKee for a goal.

The Flyers were up 7-0 at half and never looked back.

The second half was also dominated by the Flyers.

Three minutes into the half, Messinger weaved his way through Covington Latin defenders and put the Flyers up by eight.

He scored a few minutes later on an assist by Zack Newman.

The Trojans did get on the board midway through the second half.

The Flyers completed their scoring on an assist from Ryan Sturm to Roberts at the 9:07 mark giving the Flyers a 10-1 final advantage.

Tyler Pewitt and Travis Petry were in goal for Franklin County.

The Flyers play Sayre on today at 8 p.m. at Sower Soccer Field 2.
