A lawsuit accuses a Frankfort doctor of amputating a man's penis without his consent, according to a newspaper.
A malpractice suit was filed in Shelby County Circuit Court last week against Dr. John Patterson of Frankfort, who performed the surgery, Dr. Oliver James of Shelbyville, who administered the anesthetic, and Commonwealth Urology, PSC according to the Shelbyville Sentinel.
Phillip and Deborah Seaton of Waddy, say Phillip went to Patterson last October for a circumcision, which resulted in the doctor removing Phillip's penis, according to the newspaper.
The lawsuit states that, "Despite having no consent to remove his penis and despite being advised by Phillip that he did not want him to remove any part of his penis other than the foreskin, Dr. Patterson removed the penis," the newspaper reported.
James is included in the suit because he gave Seaton a general anesthetic after assuring the patient he wouldn't, according to the Sentinel.
"Because Dr. James changed the anesthesia to general anesthesia, he allowed Dr. Patterson to amputate Phillip's penis," according to the suit. "Without that change, the surgery would have ended."
The lawsuit claims that the actions of Patterson and James were intentional, willful and wanton, according to the Sentinel.
The suit says that Seaton has suffered and will suffer much mental anguish and pain, as well as a loss of enjoyment of life, and that he will incur medical expenses because of the injury.

As a matter of fact, he DIDN'T. For years after. I kicked myself for not getting a second opinion. Lesson learned.

phillipsonline, Am I to assume that Patterson did not order a x-ray or ultrasound procedure after he located the lump?

It's about time someone sued that idiot Dr Patterson. He screwed up an operation on my son when he was 2, for an undescended testicle. During his examination of my son, he found a lump in his abdominal area, which what he thought was the testicle. During the operation, he found what he had felt in the abdomen. It was a lymph node! So, he goes searching around inside my son for the testicle, and then he puncutures my sond bladder, which required a catheter for several weeks. This caused bladder contractions thay were extremely painful to my son. Well, if the idiot had thought to feel the other side of the abdomen, he would have found another lump, which was the other lymph node. There was no other testicle. My wife and I were young and naive, so we didn't sue for malpractice. However after talking to my attorney, when my son turns 18, he will have one year to sue Dr Patterson for malpractice. You can bet your life that I will fund my sons lawsuit. I wish to God we had chosen Dr Rush to examine my son. So, what does this say about this Dr who deserves to have his license revoked.

"I dont see what the big deal is he may not have known how to use it anyway."
Now, that's a mature and responsible statement!

Once again our local daily disappointment prints a story and does not have any of the facts, it doesn't make any difference if you are damaging someone's career or livelihood or even printing the truth, let's get it in print...

Let's hope you never get an infection there, might end up with less than you bargained for.
Gosh, and then there'd be no little Tylers.

You know Tyler, you make fun of this guy and then post the reason for the circumcision in the the same post. Let's hope you never get an infection there, might end up with less than you bargained for.
