Children and their parents get a chance to shop at JC Penney on a grant from the store on Sept. 28.

The Frankfort YMCA was recently awarded an $900 after school grant from JC Penney. Eighteen families who participate in the Frankfort YMCA After School Program were chosen to receive $50 gift cards to JC Penney. The cards helped them purchase new clothing and supplies for the children.

JC Penney opened its doors on Sept. 28 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to give a private shopping experience to these selected families, and gave 20 percent off their total purchases.

"This gave me an opportunity to purchase some new clothes for my children," said Roslynn Blue, of Frankfort. "I appreciate JC Penney and the YMCA for allowing me to be a part of this event."

"The event turned out to be a great success," said Brent Wallace of the Frankfort YMCA. "This event helps create a tremendous relationship all around. The YMCA is able to reach out to families in our community by the graciousness of JC Penney, and everyone benefits from it."
