Squire "Will" Williams has raised more than $40,000 - more than the combined total of his three opponents for district judge.

Williams reported raising $43,500 and spent about $29,700 with $13,800 on hand, according to records from the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.

A native of Frankfort, Williams is a 1982 graduate of Frankfort High School. He has a bachelor's in political science from the University of Kentucky and a law degree from Northern Kentucky University.
Williams has eight years of experience as a private attorney.

Key supporters include developer Bill Crumbaugh, $250; attorney William E. Johnson, $500; Franklin County Magistrate Phil Kring, $200; real estate developer Rodney Ratliff, $300; retired Franklin Circuit Judge Bill Graham, $250; Franklin Circuit Clerk Sally Jump, $250; and former Kentucky Supreme Court Justice John Palmore, $700.

Candidates are required to report contributions of more than $100 and supporters can only give $1,000 to a candidate in each election.

Williams' expenditures included $4,100 for billboard advertisements, $5,100 for newspaper and TV advertisements; $3,000 for video production, $4,000 for consultants' fees, $1,200 for a Web site and $5,000 for signs.

Chris Olds raised $16,000 and spent $13,200 with $2,800 remaining. Most of his expenditures were for advertising.

Olds gave $9,150 to his own campaign, but his employer, attorney Bob Bullock, gave $500, as did other members of the firm.

Olds has an undergraduate degree in marketing and finance from Georgetown College and a law degree from UK.

He was president of the Franklin County Bar Association in 2005, and was voted "Best Attorney" in 2003 in the Best of Frankfort Awards.

Chris Broaddus reported raising $8,800 and spending $7,500 with $1,300 on hand. He also contributed about $5,300 to his own campaign.

Broaddus has nine years of experience as an assistant Franklin County attorney.
A lifelong Franklin County resident, Broaddus is a 1983 graduate of Frankfort High School. He has a bachelor's in English from Kentucky State University and a law degree from UK.

Dana Todd reported $7,100 in contributions and has spent all but $400. Her expenses included $2,100 for signs and $1,700 for shirts.

She gave $1,000 to her own campaign, as did her boss, Commonwealth's Attorney Larry Cleveland.
Todd has been a prosecutor for more than a decade, handling child physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual assaults and other felony cases in Franklin County courts.

She has a bachelor's in Spanish and French from Western Kentucky University; a master's in Spanish from UK; and a law degree from UK.

The four candidates are vying to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Guy Hart as chief district judge, who served 16 years and four months.

The winner will complete Hart's unexpired term, which ends December 2010.

Here's a look at each contributor to the candidates and the amount they contributed.

Finally...an article that highlights the quiet, humble candidate who is going to win by a landslide. I am not a bit surprised that Will Williams has more donors than all the other candidates combined. Never met a person who didn't like and respect him. He has no agenda and will come to the job with a clean slate.

You know what it means when lots and lots of voters give their hard-earned dollars to help your campaign in a small district court race? That means those people...wait for it...wait for it...REALLY LIKE YOU.

For what it's worth...everybody I know is voting for Will. I'm sure the other candidates are nice people. But Will Williams is going to win this race. Write it down.

I have an observation.

If road contractor donations given to the Governor is percieved as bad, how is lawyers donating to judicial candidates not looked upon the same way?

Are the lawyers looking for biased rulings in their favor by donating money to judges?

I would be skeptical of all the "notable" people donating to one candidate.

I think notable people have put the US economy in the shape it's in now. We have notable politicians bailing out notable Wall St. People.

It's time for the non-notables to take America back. Start with this judges race. Vote ffor the person with the least money and favor the experience.

I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT THE VOTERS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY ARE SMARTER THAN TO VOTE SOMEONE INTO A PUBLIC OFFICE JUST BECAUSE THEY RAISED MORE MONEY IN THE POLITICAL RACE THAN SOMEONE ELSE DID. I BELIEVE THAT EXPERIENCE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE BIG BUCKS RAISED. IT SEEMS THAT MR. OLDS COTRIBUTED QUITE A BIT OF MONEY TO HIS OWN CAMPAIGN AS CHRIS BROADUS DID AS WELL. YOU KNOW IT IS ALWAYS EASIER TO SPEND SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY THAN IT IS YOUR OWN. THE MONEY IS GOOD AND VERY MUCH NEEDED, BUT WHEN THE MONEY IS ALL GONE, WHO IS GOING TO MAKE THE BETTER DISTRICT COURT JUDGE? THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE RIGHT NOW.

It's certainly not a secret that the democrat powers that be picked and backed thier candidate finacially early in the election, just look at the names. I find it odd that in the number of years I have been in public service I have never known Mr Williams to handle even the most simple criminal case.
After spending countless hours in District and Circuit Court the only thing I know about Mr Williams is that he's the little brother to a court house official and I learned from this article he has an ENTIRE 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS AN ATTORNEY.
I do know the other three running and I would feel more comfortable with them knowing their backgrounds. I'm curious how much money will talk in this election.
