Silas House at library tonight Novelist Silas House will be at Paul Sawyier Public Library 6 tonight. House will read from his new release, “Eli the Good.” A book signing will follow with copies available for purchase from Poor Richard’s Books. The event is free and will take place in the library’s community room. Musical guest Ben Sollee will also perform. Big Read kickoff tonight Kentucky State University will kick off its third Big Read Frankfort with a community party from 5-7 tonight in the Carl M. Hill Student Center Ballroom. Books and supplemental reading materials will be distributed, and refreshments will be served. This year, the Big Read will focus on “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Lee’s nephew, KSU’s Dr. Edwin Conner, will be the featured speaker at the event. This year, the Big Read will include high schools and community groups in Owen, Scott and Anderson counties as well as Franklin County. The Big Read will run from today until Nov. 15 with book discussions held in the Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort and the Paul G. Blazer Library on KSU’s campus, in local high schools and with movie screenings throughout the month. KSU English, English education and Whitney Young Honors School students will lead the book discussions.
