A fight that began in the men’s bathroom at Walmart Thursday ended with a stabbing.

Donald W. Roberts, 49, of Highwood Court, was stabbed in the stomach and behind the left ear by Tommy Sparks, 24, of Woodland Avenue, around 7:10 p.m., said Frankfort Police Maj. Fred Deaton.

The fight began in the bathroom and spilled into the checkout area, Deaton said.

A Walmart employee called police, and officers were on the scene two minutes later.

“There appears to be a family relationship between the men,” Deaton said. “For whatever reason, there was a physical altercation between the two.”

Sparks was charged with domestic assault and taken to Franklin County Regional Jail, Deaton said.

Roberts was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center and later to the University of Kentucky Hospital. He was discharged from the ER earlier today.

It is only a matter of time before retailers across the USA are forced to hire armed guards, as they are, potentially, rife for violence, even more so than schools, which already have lockdowns and metal detectors in elementary schools . . . ELEMENTARY schools!!! Sad.

I meant, "UNTIL people start owning their own misdeeds.....", not "Once"....

Oops.

You know, here's the thing - we can blame it on the rain, we can blame it on upbringing, bad childhoods, poor economy, new president, old president, the price of tea in China.....it all comes down to poor judgement on both parts for whatever reason. "The Devil Made Me Do It" is a good one, as well; BUT, it is still placing blame on someone/something OTHER than the person that committed the action. Once people start owning their own misdeeds and paying the price/making amends for them, people are going to think that it's okay to go and do whatever they want and blame it on someone/something else. Doesn't it make it easier to go out and commit a crime and then come back and say "I did it because the Devil made me do it" or "I'm so upset about the new President that I lost my mind" or "I hate my job".....

Regardless of our upbringing/childhood, regardless of what religion we are or are not, regardless of what we think of someone, we are ALL still responsible for the way we behave in and out of the public eye. Takingi responsibility for your actions is part of being an adult - not too many people do that nowadays, but choose to blame what they did/said on something/someone else. It's a cop-out and a crutch, not to mention a way of trying to get out of the punishment for said action.

Gina, you hit the nail on the head. It's Satan and his Thugs who have permeated society with their evil intentions to destroy us all. It's in the air and it's as thick as syrup.

It's the absence of Hope that has caused the world to be in such turmoil.

Mommy7845 is right - they were both in the wrong. There is no real reason that two grown men should take a fight into the WalMart bathroom, much less with two young children present. It just shows that the anger that these 2 men had for each other matters more than the safety of the children or the other patrons of the store. I know who Digger is - used to live across from him years ago. My friend and I saw him beat his then-girlfriend's face against the hood of his truck after they came home from a night of drinking at the clubhouse. We witnessed him unbuttoning his pants as she laid with her head bleeding on the hood of the truck....one can only speculate as to what would happen next. Thank God the police showed up and took him to jail. Ended up taking her to jail, too, for a bench warrant against her. As with the most recent incident, there was a child present at this time, too - his own daughter. Seems to me that this man has a few anger issues and that his post in the Iron Horsemen has led him to believe that he is above having to be held responsible for his actions. I'm not saying that Mr. Sparks was in the right, either - I wasn't there and I don't know how it all happened. BUT, I DO know that Mr. Roberts has had a history of aggression and that needs to be addressed before putting him back out into society to offend again.

Look these are my children that are involved. I am very ashamed of what happened but both tommy and digger were in the wrong. Everyone is making it out like tommy is a horrible person for what he did at walmart but he was attacked by digger and did what he did in self defense. Thats the story of that my children did witness this and it has tramatized them i would appreciate it if people of frankfort would stop acting like hes a monster because everyone reads this and runs there mouth around my children and it isnt helping them. They werent hurt in the fight but they seen it all I think the ones who are being supportive but everyone else needs to drop it or leave my children out of it and for the record were divorced.

what mr 411 seems to not mention is mr. sparks puts his children in danger quite a bit with many drug deals and illegal transactions he does with them in the car or at his own home or anywhere. mr sparks is a well known artist of giving everyone the "chalk it up to the game" speech. mr. sparks is not innocent and many people are out for his head as a trophy. mr. sparks is also known for showing himself to young girls and trying to lure them into his house for not so nice "tea parties". mr. sparks has stolen from so many people in this town it is a wonder he is lived this long. i am not trying to make it out mr. roberts was a boy scout, but mr. sparks is no mr.rogers. some people know that slime like sparks still roam free on the streets and keep on putting his children in the middle of drug deals or theft project. the only people i feel sorry for in this story are the 2 babies involved.

The article only says donald roberts 49, giving the
Impression he is a sweet old man. Donald Roberts A.K.A.
Digger, a name he earned as an Enforcer in the Iron
Horsemen. An enforcer basically gets the clubs rules and
Points of view through to people using their fists. Nor
did anyone mention the fact that he is a Sex-Offender, a
Convicted Felon for more than one reason. Also, the man
Distributes more lortab than Walgreens, Kroger, Waynes,
and C.V.S. Combined. I'm curious how his Detective
neighbor (whom often travels to the gambling boat with
Mr.Roberts)knows nothing about his activities.

Also, is anyone going to mention the fact that
Mr.Roberts, the so-called "Victim," followed
Mr.Sparks into the restroom (Sparks entered the
restroom with his two kindergarten age children)
And began assaulting Mr.Sparks from behind, with his
Children both present and in direct line of danger.
Both the Police report and witnesses state: Mr.Sparks
Was defending his life, and the lives of his present
Children. What would the headline have read if Mr.Sparks
had not defended himself, and those two innocent children
Had been subdued to watching their father be beaten to
Death in Wal-Mart bathroom. Imagine the life-long
psychological effects, what kinda animal would do this
to two small children???
