Attorney a ‘Notable Newcomer’ R. Benjamin Crittenden, an attorney with Stites & Harbison in Frankfort, has been selected as a “Notable Newcomer” by the LexisNexis Tax Law and the Lexis Hub for New Attorneys. This program honors attorneys who have been practicing in the tax field fewer than 10 years and “exceed expectations.” Crittenden was nominated for the “Notable Newcomer” recognition by Stites & Harbison attorney Erica Horn, of the firm’s Lexington office. “Ben has the intellectual capacity, the writing and oral skills, and the leadership and personality qualities to make one of the country’s finest state and local tax lawyers,” Horn said. Crittenden represents businesses and individuals in their relations with and regulation by state and local governments, focusing on disputes involving state and local tax matters. Small business nominations due Nov. 20 Nominations for Kentucky’s small business person of the year 2010 are due Nov. 20. Business owners from every state who have been named as their state’s small business person of the year travel to Washington for three days of small business related activities. One of the winners will be chosen as the national winner. Other awards include small business exporter, young entrepreneur, family-owned business, financial services, home-based business, minority, veteran and women. A special award, entrepreneurial success, is presented to a large company that began as a small business. Lawrenceburg credit union branch opens in January Commonwealth Credit Union will open a full service branch in Lawrenceburg in January. The branch covers 3,400 square feet and will feature drive-through teller lanes, a 24-hour ATM, safe deposit boxes, an Internet café and after-hours depository. The branch will also be open Saturday. “As part of our ongoing commitment to provide our members with quality service, we are excited to offer a new full-service branch to our membership and to introduce our credit union to the Lawrenceburg community,” said David Young, vice president of operations. “We look forward to our new Lawrenceburg branch and becoming a vital business partner in the Lawrenceburg community.” Commonwealth CU has assets of more than $894 million and serves more than 84,000 members.
