Area swimmers perform well in opening meet

All three local high school swim teams opened their season on Wednesday with a five-team meet at Woodford County. 


For an early season meet swimmers had very fast times and new swimmers finally got a chance to find out what they have been training for since Oct. 1. 


Zach Burnett of Franklin County and Madison Harbin and Sydney Sell of Western Hills dominated the meet, winning both of their individual events and placing in the top three on each relay in which they swam. 


Burnett won the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Harbin won the 200 and 500 freestyle events, and Sell won the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke. Complementing their efforts were other swimmers who finished in the top three:
