12U Bobcats tryouts are today
The Frankfort Bobcats will have tryouts for their 12U girls fast pitch traveling softball team today at 4 p.m. at Extra Innings.
The team will have weekly practices beginning in early 2010 and will play in 10 weekend tournaments beginning in late spring 2010.
There are 12 roster positions available. The team’s head coach is Jennifer Johnson, an assistant coach at Franklin County.
The cost is $350 and includes tournament entry fee, uniform and indoor practices. Fundraising opportunities will be available.

Juniper Christmas party is Friday
Juniper Hill will have its annual Christmas party Friday, Dec. 4 at the Juniper Hill clubhouse beginning at 6 p.m.
Meat and drinks will be provided, and those who plan to attend are asked to call the pro shop at 875-8559 to sign up.

National meet Dec. 12 in Lexington
USA Track & Field National Club Cross Country Championships will be Saturday, Dec. 12 at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.
There will be a 10K for men, a 6K for women plus a 6K community run.

Lady Flyer AAU U12 team picks up two wins
The AAU Lady Flyers U-12 basketball team, under the direction of coaches Meribeth Gaines and Summer Campbell Gortney, started play this past week.
The Lady Flyers traveled to Louisville to take part in the Hoopfest Jamboree, opening up the season with two victories.
In the first game, the Lady Flyers squared off against Mercer County. The Flyers took the lead early and never looked back, posting a 28-20 victory.
Dasia Kilbourne was on fire, scoring 18 points to lead all scorers. Caroline Mefford added six points followed by Sydney Wiard with four points.
The Lady Flyers faced Ascension in their second game. The Flyers wasted no time taking control of this game, opening up with a 9-2 scoring run in the first quarter and building a 13-4 lead by halftime.
The Lady Flyers kept up the pressure in the second half, outscoring Ascension 12-4 on the way to a 25-8 victory.
Kilbourne led the team with 12 points followed by Kristen Ellis with five points. Mefford, Anna Arrastia, Wiard and Sarah Cheek each chipped in two points.
