Frankfort Buffalo Trace whiskey best in the world Sazerac Rye, distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery, is the top whiskey in the world according to the 2010 edition of the Whisky Bible. Jim Murray, author of the book, has been a full-time whiskey writer since 1992 and a recognized as an expert in the industry. Also earning top honors was George T. Stagg, which took home Bourbon of the Year. Sazerac Rye received a composite score of 97.5, only the second time the high score has been awarded. “It is a true honor to have our products singled out by Jim,” said Harlen Wheatley, master distiller. “He truly understands what makes a fine whiskey. Lanham Media designs Book Fair top sellers The results are in, and Lanham Media Service designed two of the Top 10 Best Sellers at this year’s Kentucky Book Fair. Leading the list at No. 1 is “Frankfort Yesterday and Today,” and claiming the No. 10 spot is “Portrait of Early Families-Frankfort Area Before 1860.” Bob and Sallie Clay Lanham have designed the Book Fair’s bestseller four times since 2004. In 2007, the Lanham-designed “Frankfort Cemetery: The Westminster Abbey of Kentucky” had the double distinction of being ranked the Kentucky Book Fair No. 1 Best Seller and winning the Gold Medal Best Book Design in the national Indie Book Awards competition. Commonwealth Credit Union will open its Lawrenceburg branch in January near the intersection of U.S. 127 and U.S. 62, next to the Food Court at 1015 Crossroad Plaza Drive. Bethany Patton will serve as branch manager along with Kim Jennings as assistant branch manager. Patton has more than 14 years of experience as assistant branch manager of the Frankfort-Sower Boulevard Branch. Jennings has more than 10 years of experience at several branches. The new branch will feature drive-through teller lanes, 24-hour full-service ATM, after-hours depository, safe deposit boxes, Internet Café and free coin counting. The credit union has assets of more than $897 million and serves more than 85,000 members, making it the largest credit union in Kentucky. It serves participants and their relatives in any Kentucky state retirement system. Patton recently accepted a challenge from Mayor Ewinna Baker to participate in “The Spirit of Giving” food drive for the Lawrenceburg food panty. The branch staff will also participate in the Christmas Parade.
