Man connected to MySpace runaway

A Bourbon County man has been arrested in connection with a Lawrenceburg teenager who ran away on Sunday.

Kentucky State Police arrested Brian T. Jones, 19, of Paris, at 1 p.m. Tuesday. He’s charged with three counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, and one count of kidnapping, a felony.

State police say he met with the 14-year-old on Sunday after she ran away. They originally met on MySpace, according to a news release from Post 12 in Frankfort.

They met face-to-face for the first time when the teen ran away on Sunday.

Trooper Ron Turley said at one point Jones had prevented her from leaving.

The sexual abuse charge was related to the 5-year age difference between Jones and the teen, Turley said.

Jones is lodged without bond at the Bourbon County Detention Center. Police searched his home on East Main Street in Bourbon County.

The teen was found at a Shell gas station in Bourbon County on Monday after police received an anonymous tip.

“She was wanting to go back home,” Trooper James Collins previously told The State Journal.

As far as the kidnapping goes, was this yet another one of her lies to save her butt!
Could he had told her not to leave at that perticular time for her own protection.(being in a different town & all) till he could find her a safer way home.

I am no longer worried about this guy getting railroaded. This girl has left such a lying & decieving trail, that anybody can tell what a fake she is.

Kidnapping is a serious offense. There are lesser charges that could be used. Officers always push for the maximum if they have personal issues with the case. There is "unlawful imprisonment" or "custodial interference" charges they could have used. Kidnapping is a capital crime, meaning a class A felony, or B, depending on the circumstances. Once the facts come out, these charges will be amended, wait and see. The MySpace page is proof enough. The defense probably already has it saved.

I think luring an adult for sex should be a crime under the forgery section of law.

I support the boy (so far) because I am not convinced he knew he was doing anything wrong, which makes a big difference in the eyes of the law. If these charges stick, he will have to register as a sex offender because of a legitimate mistake he made at age 19. Sad.

If he picked her up under the pretense she was 18, then he has done nothing wrong. The law will back him up on that. I was in a similar situation years ago.
If you have a date and are "iffy" about her age and don't want to be rude and "card" her, insist on going to a club where you must be 18 so that someone else has to do it. If she says she doesn't have it with her, then it is your duty to presume she is underage until you can verify.

I have to retract my post from earlier in the week. No one was preying on this girl. She was misrepresenting herself. She's very lucky her parents didn't find her body in a ditch somewhere. I feel sorry for her on another level. She hasn't been taught to value herself as a person with a mind and potential and not put herself out there as a "body" and a sex object. I would love to meet her parents.

citizenx, I checked this out earlier after I heard that she stated that she was 18 on her myspace page.
This child has some very strong language for a 14 yr. old & I noticed her sister that doesn't look a day older then 18 & has what looks to be a 3 or 4 yr. old child.

The young man charged is being railroaded because mother of this child simply did not do a parents job! There is a history with those young sisters acting & living as older wemon.

You cant put all the blame on the boy simply because he is older. This girl knew what she was getting into, and then changed her mind. Willing to let the guy take the rap though. Happens every day somewhere.
