BTG opening season with "Contempt of Court'

Bluegrass Theatre Guild will open its 2010 season partnering with the Capital Plaza Hotel as a dinner theatre with the comedy “Contempt of Court,” an interactive comedy where the audience serves as jury and actually decides the outcome on three outlandish civil cases.


Members of the cast are Ronnie Jump as Duke Mondhill (the Court Officer), Jonathan Hart as Sydney Schyster (a lawyer with Springer, Schyster & Shark), Erin Mentzer as Melissa Cheatham (a lawyer with Dewey, Cheatham and Howe), Shelley Morris as Judge Judy Koch, Donnie Hagy as the witnesses (Mr. Snitch, Richard Simon, Man & Nurse Ulga), Janet Meyer as Howard Costar, Jr., Vicki Easterly as a Deputy Officer and Cindy Shemwell as a Deputy Officer.


Production dates are Feb. 19-21. The cost will be $35 per person and will include dinner and the show.  Reservations will be required and may be made by calling Pam Gilbert at 223-8457.  Reservations must be paid for in advance by making a check payable to the Bluegrass Theatre Guild and mailing to P.O. Box 1481, Frankfort, KY 40602.


Doors open Feb. 19-20 at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 and Feb. 21 times are 1 and 1:30 p.m.


The production staff includes: producers – Ranelle Mackey and Cindy Shemwell; stage manager – Carol Oerther, publicity – Sally Jump and Janet Meyer; light design – Mike Rosenstein; light board captain – Richard Abbott; sound – George Stokes; poster and program – Mitzi Gray; artist of caricature – Jonathan Hart; tickets – Linda McKinley (season tickets) and Pam Gilbert, dinner theatre reservations; props – Jenny Luscher; costumes – Sue Norman and coat check – Diana Kelley and Leslie Grubbs.

Season tickets will include “Contempt of Court,” the summer musical “Snoopy” and the children’s theater “It Happened in Hamlin.” The cost of a season ticket is $45 for BTG members and $50 for non-members.  The cost of purchasing tickets to the three productions individually would be $65.  Call McKinley at 875-3789 for more information or to purchase tickets.
