Mr. William M. Rogers left this world on February 3, 2010, at the Central Baptist Hospital after a long illness. Born on September 17, 1922, in Graefenburg (Shelby County), Ky. to the late Myrtle and Estes Rogers, he was one of four brothers and one sister. After graduating from Henry Clay High School, he was drafted into the service in 1942 and served at the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged as Master Sergeant and enlisted in the Army Reserves, and was called back into duty during the Korean Conflict. After he was discharged, Mr. Rogers opened a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Frankfort, served for ten years on the Frankfort police force with the rank of captain, and worked as a fraud investigator for the Cabinet for Human Resources where retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Frankfort and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. In 1947, Mr. Rogers married his wife, Ilse Schulze Rogers, in Bad Wildungen, Germany. He was a devoted father to his son Dale (Shirley) and his daughter Victoria Schreier (Mike). Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by a son, Dwight, and brothers Selbert, Robert, Clarence and John. Survivors include his sister, Judith Roederer and children; a sister-in-law, Edith Rogers and children; a stepgranddaughter, Holly Blessing (Jason) and three great-grandchildren in California; Horst and Ursula Linden in Munich, Germany; and Heidi Linden in Frankfurt, Germany. Funeral services will be held in Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, February 6th at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following burial at the Frankfort Cemetery, a reception will be held in the Chenault Christian Life Center at the First Christian Church. Pallbearers will be Dennie Burton, Huston Wells, Sonny Mooney, Wayne Allison, Eddie Rogers and Mike Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Jones, Sen. Mike Reynolds, Rick Moreno, Mike Schreier, Brad McGill, Dana Anglin and the Myrtle Beach Golf Group. Flowers are welcome, while donations are suggested to the Chenault Christian Life Center, First Christian Church.
