Mark Barrett, a 1987 graduate of Western Hills High School, will be inducted into the University of the Cumberlands Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Barrett played football for the Patriots from 1988-91 where he earned Little All-American honors four times as well as Mid-South Conference First-team Defense honors.

He was also a member of the 1988 Hall of Fame team, which went undefeated during the regular season and won the Mid-South conference championship – both firsts in the history of the school.

Barrett still holds the individual records for tackles in a season and single-game tackles. He was selected by his teammates as best linebacker all four years. After completing his career, he was invited to a professional football combine.

For the last 12 years, Barrett has served as an assistant football coach at Western Hills. He is the son of Bill Barrett, Lawrenceburg, and Linda Taylor, Leesburg, Fla. He currently resides in Frankfort with his wife Michelle and two daughters, Kennedy and Addison. He has worked as the Franklin County Solid Waste Supervisor for the last 15 years.
