Lady Flyers pay back LCA

Franklin County’s girls basketball team extracted a little bit of revenge from Lexington Christian Saturday night, beating the Lady Eagles 76-48 in Lexington.


LCA (17-5) had beaten Franklin County last year in the 11th Region tournament semifinals.


On Saturday FCHS (19-5) jumped out to a 42-25 halftime lead and was up 62-44 after three quarters.


The Lady Flyers held Lexington Christian to four points in the fourth quarter.


Chelsea Craig had a monster game for Franklin County, finishing with 25 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and three steals.


Ashli Mayes was in double figures for FCHS with 12 points, followed by Raven Timmons with nine, Andrea Howard with eight, Lacinda Hack with six, Chelsea Brown with four, Brittany Mello with three, Emily Hampton and Annie Smith with two points each, and Shakiyla Collins-Wilson and Nannilena White with one point each.


Hack had five assists, and Mello had three.


UK signee Sarah Beth Barnette led LCA with 13 points.


FCHS plays its next game Monday at Shelby County.
