Capital Plaza Hotel Bridal Show organizers are hoping to provide local brides a one-stop shop for all their nuptial needs. Hotel sales manager Samantha Baldridge, who is spearheading the show, said the primary focus of the Feb. 20 event is wedding services available in Frankfort and surrounding areas such as Lawrenceburg and Versailles. “We primarily want to showcase local businesses and the services they provide,” she said. Baldridge anticipates nearly 30 vendors with three or four from each category including florists, disc jockeys, cake designers, hair and makeup stylists and health and wellness professionals. The health and wellness professionals will provide information on everything from diet and exercise to facial treatments, Baldridge said. The hotel will also feature its catering service including a mashed potato station with various toppings such as cheese, which according to Marie Murray, assistant general manager for the hotel, is becoming popular at wedding receptions. Other local businesses include Salon J, Rebecca Ruth Candies, CruiseOne and Jasperfish Photography. Baldridge said there are some unlikely vendors such as Memories A La Mode, a scrapbook supply store, and Corinthian Christian Book Store, which offers printing and engraving. From 1 to 5 p.m. patrons will be able to go from booth to booth in the hotel’s ballrooms and main hallway where vendors will offer samples, brochures, business cards and presentations. There is no cost for entry, but suggested $3 donations will be taken at the door with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. “That’s one thing that’s different (from other bridal shows),” Murray said. “There’s no admittance fee. We’re just asking for a donation.” A drawing for a free rehearsal dinner featuring Capital Plaza Hotel catering services at the hotel will take place around 4 p.m. Everyone who comes to the show will receive a ticket at the door, and the winner must be present to receive the prize. “We’re hoping for at least 100 brides,” Murray said. “We want to try to keep people in Frankfort. There is a place in town that can take care of them (for their wedding needs).” Baldridge said she hopes those who attend will see the advantages to planning through Frankfort businesses. She said often local services are much more affordable than those from larger cities. Murray said the hotel holds 15 to 20 on-site rehearsals and receptions and caters several away from the facility each year. The hotel has also participated in outside bridal shows, but never hosted its own. Murray said the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce originally planned a bridal show but turned the project over to the hotel in late September. “We really want to see how this one goes,” Baldridge said. “This is meant to be a resource for brides to get an idea of what’s in Frankfort.” Baldridge and Murray both say they hope the event becomes an annual tradition. Baldridge envisions offering trunk and fashion shows in the future. Organizers recommend brides and bridal parties RSVP on Facebook or by calling the hotel at 227-5100.
