The Frankfort Blue All-Stars hung tough with the Scott County All-Stars for four straight innings Tuesday at Paul Weddle Field in the first round of the District All-Star Tournament. Then with two big swings in the fifth inning, the visiting team in red turned a nail-biter into a blowout. Robbie Hannaback hit a grand slam off Frankfort Blue pitcher Joe Meyer, who pitched four strong innings of one-run ball to begin the game. The blast to left field made the score 5-0. That lead grew to 7-0 three batters later when Trey Ogle hit an opposite field home run off reliever Brenden Cummins. The Blue All-Stars were limited at the plate Tuesday by the pitching of Scott County’s Brandon Wilson and Justin Warman. In four innings of work, Wilson struck out eight and allowed just one hit. After walking the bases loaded to begin the third inning, Wilson came back to strike out the side. Warman allowed just two hits in the final two innings. Meyer struck out six in five innings of work for the Blue All-Stars and pitched three scoreless innings after giving up a run in the top of the first. Cummins came on in the fifth, striking out four and pitching a scoreless sixth. Getting hits for Frankfort Blue were Tyler Anglin, Isaiah Gabbard and Meyer, all with singles. Both team are back in action today. Frankfort Blue plays Henry County at 6 p.m., while Scott County faces Shelby County at 8 p.m.
