The air conditioning and elevators at a downtown church were temporarily knocked out of service by a scheduled power outage connected to work on the new judicial center Saturday, a pastor says. Wayne Sayre, pastor of First United Methodist Church at the corner of Wapping and Washington streets, says the power outage affected the Wesley Center, the church’s newest building, which houses a contemporary church service, Sunday school classes and a daycare. The Frankfort Plant Board placed door hangers on properties in the vicinity last week letting owners know power would be off from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sayre said. Scott Hudson, electric superintendent at the plant board, said employees worked on relocating overhead power lines for the new courthouse Saturday. The outage caused the computer system in some air conditioning units to shut down and not restart, but those were repaired Tuesday. A new part had to be ordered for the elevator, because the power outage damaged its power supply. Hudson said he hasn’t fielded any complaints or claims regarding Saturday’s outage.
