WHHS class of 2000 reunion this weekend
The Western Hills High School Class of 2000 will hold its 10-year reunion Friday and Saturday. The group will meet Friday at 6:30 p.m. for the Downtown Summer Concert Series. Sandwiches, chips, and drinks will be provided.
On Saturday a dinner/dance event is set for 6:30-11:30 p.m. at VFW Post 4075, Second Street.
The cost for both nights is $20 per person.
However, if you can only can come one night, then the cost for Friday night is $5 per person and Saturday $15 per person.

Singing Bridge closed starting Saturday
The Singing Bridge will be closed beginning 7 a.m. Saturday for painting.
The bridge will be closed between Bridge Street and St. Clair until mid-September, according to the Department of Highways District 5 Office.
Motorists should follow the signed detour via West Main Street, the Capitol Avenue Bridge and US 60.
Eagle Painting & Maintenance Company Inc. was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $2.75 million.
The contract also includes the recent repairs to the Capital Avenue Bridge on US 60 and painting of the steel girders on the underside of this structure.
The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.

Car show Saturday
The second annual car show at the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Registration is 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and costs $15. The first 50 registrants will receive a free goody bag.
Awards presented will include the top 50, best Chevy, best Ford, best Mopar, best non-big three and pastor’s pick.
Food, drinks, games and raffles will be available, and Rick Johnson will provide music.

U.S. 421 closed this weekend
U.S. 421 will be closed from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday between Lebanon Ridge Road and Lebanon Road.
The closure will allow for replacement of two cross drains and local access will be allowed, according to the Department of Highways District 5 office.

School board to add preschool positions
The Frankfort Independent Board of Education will meet in special session noon Friday at Second Street School, 506 W. Second St., room 210.
Agenda items include approval of two part-time aide positions and an additional position for the expanded preschool program.
The board will also amend the wording of its classified salary schedule, and approve orders of the treasurer.
