Frankfort Red All Star's second baseman Jackson Lewis and right fielder Evan Hutton field a hit by Scott County in the East Frankfort Kiwanis Club Baseball Tournament at Paul Weddle Field Wednesday afternoon. Scott County won 16-2 in four innings.
When the visiting team hits the first pitch of the game over the fence, it might not be the home team’s day.
That’s the omen the Frankfort Red All-Stars dealt with in their opening round game in the East Frankfort Kiwanis Baseball Tournament Wednesday at Paul Weddle Field.
Facing the Scott County All-Stars, Frankfort Red found itself buried before it even had a chance at the plate. Scott County’s Justin Warman opened and closed the scoring in the first inning with home runs to left field, book-ending a nine-run, seven-hit frame.
Scott County scored the first 16 runs of the game, going on to win 16-2 in four innings.
Tristen Terrell batted in Frankfort Red’s pair of runs in the game, hitting a ball to deep center field in the bottom of the fourth and scoring Logan Etherington and DeShawn Newton, who both reached on singles.
Dalton Tucker, Corey Sparkman and Sheldon Brumback also singled for Frankfort Red.
Etherington pitched the first two innings for the Red All-Stars and Newton closed the game. Raife Goddard took the mound in the top of the third but came out of the game after a line drive glanced off his head. Goddard walked off the field unassisted.
Frankfort Red plays the Grant County-Anderson County loser 1 p.m. today.
