As the season continues, so does the winning streak for the Franklin County girls golf team.
The Lady Flyers won a tri-match with Boyle County and Woodford County Wednesday at Juniper Hill, making it 31 victories in a row in regular-season matches for FCHS.
Franklin County shot 161 to win the match, with Boyle second at 190 and Woodford finishing at 206.
Erin Marshall led FCHS with a one-under par 36, and Abbi Stamper shot 38.
“Things are going good,” FCHS coach Drex Davis said. “It was good to see Erin play well. She’s been struggling a little bit, but she had a long phone conversation with her golf pro, Carmello Benassi.
“Abbi Stamper shooting 38 and Erin in the 30s bodes well because you know Abby Smith will be in there most of the time. That’s three powerful scores there.”
Smith shot a 40 Wednesday, and Hannah Robertson was the Lady Flyers’ fourth player whose score counted with a 47.
Franklin County has already won two tournaments this season and will be defending its title in the Gene Hilen Invitational Saturday at Juniper Hill. Western Hills is also in the Hilen field.
“We’ll learn a lot more about this team in the Gene Hilen,” Davis said. “We’re in a group paired with some of the top three, four teams in the state – Shelby County, Green County and Notre Dame.
“This is a real good tournament on our home course, as defending champions,” he added, “and we’ll find out a lot on Saturday with the region just 23 days away.”
The regional tournament will also take place at Juniper Hill.
“To go play on our home course, the regional course, in a tournament situation, we’ll get a better idea of how we stand against the top teams in the state,” Davis said.
Other scores for FCHS Wednesday were Taylor Cammack 48, Aubrey Reid 51, Hayley Warfel 53, Megan Drake 54, Izzy Cochran 59 and Cameron Montgomery 72.
