Right, the car road was on the right of the tracks leaving town. It doesn't seem reasonable for the house and girls to be as they are, if I shot from my car window. I probably parked my car and walked to the RR bridge struct. Would that be feasible? I really can't remember. I haven't lived in Frankfort since 1959 so I have only my memory. The best explanation is that there was another bridge somewhere. Your observations are helpful. About the Madison and Clinton shot. I never gave anyone my prints or negatives. They have been in my possession all these 55 years. But other people probably took pictures and that was probably a good standing place. I will try the KHS link again. |

To clear any confusion, my name is Alice Clair Kimbler. Not sure why the posted name came out differently.

In reference to Post #7 by SARC8427: I have the original negatives of the flood photos I submitted here. They are in a roll in a film can and labelled 1955 flood and others. None of the photos are reversed from how they were printed; all the same orientation as the prints submitted.
In the photo at the corner of Madison and Clinton, the cars are recognizable as 1940's models. Therefore, the KHS photo taken from the same spot is not of the 1937 flood but rather 1955 flood, as mine are. I couldn't seem to get up the photo in Post #8.But SARC's comment would lead one to believe KHS needs to check up on the dates of flood pictures. My photo labelled "junk yard on Madison?" is probably incorrect guess. Anyone know? Surely wish I had labelled my photos back when I took them in high school days. |

its the worst flood since 1978, that I can remember in my lifetime, I would say from what I remember the '78 flood was the worst, follewed by the '97 flood, the the '2010 flood is how I rank them in my life time. of course I was born in 1968. so looks like sort of a trend we get a bad flood about evry 10- 15 years.
