Reading this thread, I became intrigued about where the bridge picture was taken. It's the northern end of the Bellepoint bridge. The view is toward Bellepoint. The little white house was the first house on the left on Kentucky Ave. after you cross the bridge.

I have posted a picture I shot today of that same general scene. Note the rivets in the bridge. The bottom one is flattened, the one above it is rounded. They appear in both photos.

The concrete wall the girls were leaning against in the 1955 picture is still there, just a bit more deteriorated than it was back then.

The Capital Ave concrete bridge was built in 1938 -
Before the St Clair St singing bridge, there was a covered bridge. I have a sketch of it made by Paul Sawyer.

From looking at the original roll of negatives, I can verify that none of my flood photos are reversed. All are the orientation as in the negatives - the roll has not been cut at all.
The Steele and 4th photo has my 1949 Pontiac driver's side in it. I had driven down 4th from Frankfort High and taken a right and stopped. I believe I am standing on 4th looking down (north) Steele toward 2nd Street.
I wish I remembered what bridge it was and how I drove there. Can't find a 1955 map of Fkft to check. The bridge to BellPoint was closed.
The railroad bridge that continued from Broadway did have car lanes beside it. Maybe this is that end of Kentucky Avenue.
Comments welcome.

The top picture is the 300 block of Steele St. looking North from 4th Street.
I believe that the second image is reversed or mirrored. Its likely the old steel bridge over Benson with Fort Hill in the background.

I was thinking of the bridge that goes across Benson Creek. It use to have cars go across it and houses near it leading into Bellpoint. Actually, Bellpoint was a lot bigger then it is now.

I think the first picture is of 4th but between Ewing Street and Conway. I am not cause some of the houses have been changed but the big house to the end on the left hand side looks like the one stand on the corner of 4th and Conway.

Can the second picture be taken somewhere on Kentucky Avenue near the railroad bridge?
