(Charles) Wendell Carlson, of Midway, KY, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88 on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. In 2002, after living in South Dakota for over 50 years, Wendell and Vivian retired to Katy, Texas. In 2006, he moved to Midway, KY to live with his eldest son. Wendell became a member of the Forks of the Elkhorn Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was Wendell’s first-born son Warren, who died in 1948, his wife Vivian, who died in 2002, and a son-in-law, Rick Carder. He is survived by five children: Gwen and her husband Stan Carlson from Rochester, Minnesota; Linda from Greenfield, Indiana; Lyle and his wife Pamela (Sanders) from Midway, Kentucky; Charles and his wife Lucinda (Burgess) from Midway, Kentucky; Barbara and her husband Thomas Boyett from Katy, Texas. Fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister also survive him. The funeral service will be held at the Forks of the Elkhorn Baptist Church on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 1 p.m. He will be interred after a graveside service in Katy, Texas. Friends may call at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. today. Comments
